LAWCHA has blocked out dorm rooms for those looking for an affordable option.
A limited number of rooms will be available after March 14th but space is not guaranteed.The dorms are approximately a 10-15 minute walk to Ida Noyes Hall, the primary conference site. We expect to have approximately 150 single rooms ($94/night) and 150 double rooms ($150/night) available. All dorm rooms have shared hall bathrooms. Dorm room bookings include linens and towels.These will be distributed on a first come/first serve basis. Feel free to book a double for yourself if no singles are available or find a roommate if you prefer to share the cost. Single - $94/nightDouble - $150/night
Local Union Hotels:The closest unionized hotels are at the McCormick Place convention center. These are the Hilton Garden Inn and Hyatt Regency (both approx. $350/night) or the Marriott Marquis (approx. $525/night). They're about five miles away, but accessible by public transit (30-45 minutes).Lower cost union hotels are available in downtown Chicago starting at $180/night. June will be a high season for these hotels so we encourage you to act soon if you want to go this route. - Friday box lunch - $5- Saturday box lunch - $5- Saturday evening dinner at local union hall with shuttle service - $50 - Thursday, June 12 (afternoon time TBA) - Labor History Tour of South Side/Bronzeville with Shermann "Dilla" Thomas - $40 - Sunday, June 15 (morning time TBA) – Chicago has always been a flashpoint for the American Labor Movement. For this four hour tour, we will be exploring two historic themes: Haymarket history and Industrial organizing in the Packinghouses. We will also touch upon local and regional events surrounding the Great Railroad Strike of 1877 and the connection between the Haymarket Incident of 1886 and the 1968 protests of the Democratic National Convention that brought the Illinois Labor History Society into existence. - $40
